It is honestly crazy how many different Barbie games have been released over the years and this one is part of a sub-series in the Barbie games world, actually, it is the fourth game in this sub-series!
Say what you want about these Barbie games, but I always feel that at the very least they do try and have a decent story. This game is set on a lovely island that has been the victim of a pretty brutal storm. Barbie needs to roll her sleeves up and try to get the island back to normal all the while taking care of her horses and winning races. I have to be honest, the story is not all that bad and it is not even based on a tie-in movie.
However, at the time this was as close to an open world Barbie game as we had gotten. The game has you going around the island and talking to many different NPCs they will give you missions to do such as a kid asking you to go and find his toy that was lost in the storm. Most of what you do will be fetch quests, but you are free to do these any way you want.
